Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July! I can’t believe the summer is half over.

Thank you to everyone who came out to the book signing events during May and June. I appreciate all the encouragement and support from my 30A friends and all the visitors to the area who also love the dune lakes. Stay tuned for more book signings in the coming weeks.

The rare coastal dune lakes are very dear to those who grew up along the Gulf coast or have spent their summers visiting the area. The biodiversity of the lakes’ ecosystems fascinates me. I enjoy taking pictures of the wildlife and sharing them with those of you who also have a passion for nature’s beauty.

As I begin this blog, let me point out that it will not be a biological report, but merely a channel for sharing information about the rare coastal dune lakes of Walton County, Florida. My plan is to write occasional posts that relate to the lakes, their ecosystems, and the natural world around Scenic Highway 30A. I would like to comment in a helpful way to those who have a passion for nature, share what knowledge I absorb through research and local resources, and increase awareness of biodiversity and preservation. And, of course, the coastal recreational events that relate to the lakes (such as nature walks, paddle board races, etc.) will be covered here as well.

I invite those of you who live in the area or who have environmental expertise to please comment as we move along. Looking forward to it!
